Well worth the money! July 27, 2010 KB I have owned a 1080P DLP HDTV for the last 2 1/2 years and was very happy with everything except the lack of deep black levels and the overall size of the tv. Several months ago I had made up my mind to purchase a new plasma tv. I even had a plasma tv in my Amazon cart on more than one occasion. However, after going into a local store to once again look at plasma tv's on display I noticed the picture quality on the LED/LCD tv's. After some research (including the reviews for this tv here) I made the decision to buy this tv from Amazon. It was shipped by Pilot freight (I never heard of them before) and the tv was delivered on time (but they did have a 6 hour delivery window). Thy brought in the tv in an undamaged box, opened it up and placed it on the tv stand for me. I had already had everything ready and waiting so setup was as easy as hooking up 1 HDMI cable and plugging the tv in. The tv works flawlessly, HD satellite looks great, and Blu Ray looks phenominal, especially movies like Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Dark Knight, etc. I do agree with those that are not impressed with the tv speakers. I purchased a surround sound system with receiver when I bought the tv and it makes the viewing experience much more enjoyable. As far as applications available on the tv, I had already been watching Netflix via my Blu Ray player so I have not even connected the tv to the Internet yet. Lastly regarding picture quality, my teenage daughter expressed no interest in getting a new tv when she was told we were replacing the DLP tv. When she first saw the new tv on, she was, and still is amazed at the picture quality. This tv was my first Vizio product and will likely not be my last. Great job Vizio!
The entire family is delighted with this TV July 25, 2010 Richard Burford (Sandy, UT USA) It's worth stating that our family doesn't watch a lot of television. If it's on a couple of hours a day that's unusual. However, with the World Cup and Tour de France coming up, and our old TV on its last legs it was time for a new TV.
Set up was simple, with plenty of HDMI inputs. I am not sure that all of the internet apps are necessary (who updates Facebook while watching television ?), but the wireless connectivity into our home network was really simple to set up.
The picture is really good, and the sound is perfectly acceptable.
My only (minor) quibbles are the remote control is a bit tacky - full of features, but feels like it is about to fall apart every time I touch it, and second) there's a Vizio 'light' logo at the bottom of the TV frame which is white when the TV is on, and orange when it's off. No offence, Vizio, but I know when the TV's off ! To my mind this is just a waste of (a small amount) of electricity.
Having said all of this, we are really pleased with the TV and would recommend it wholeheartedly.
Liked it. July 19, 2010 Sekhar Kari (USA) I got one 3 weeks back, and I must say its a good buy. I was really not sure whether to go for Sony, Samsung or Vizio until I read the reviews on Cnet. The interesting part of the review was the features and overall picture quality.
I must admit, it meat the expectations. Set-up was easy, universal remote works great, internet apps are easily accessible. HD picture quality is sound, which is expected and at par with rest. But big suspicion I always had is how the TV handles non HD content like TV Channels with 480i,720p, old DVD player with no HDMI, Netflix with non HD content, etc. I don't have much experience with other HDTVs, but this TV kind of handling it quite well. I don't see that screwed up image quality ( I remember seeing on some other hdtv), and by adjusting the picture size we can still optimize the quality. Audio is good, Pandora works great. here is the summary.
Another big plus is internet apps, I love the way I can tweet from my TV, while watching a movie/game. ditto with facebook. I viewed some facebook photo gallery, it looks great.Netflix is easy and works great.
Pros.
1) Picture quality
2) WI-FI connectivity
3) Price
4) Internet apps (Netflix,Twitter,Facebook,etc)
5) Bluetooth remote. (You must have Bluetooth remote to tweet, no need to show at TV while typing)
6) Non HD content is displayed reasonably better.
Cons.
1) Slow during start-up (takes 10 secs)
2) Keys on the Remote are hard to find at times. (No radium top, you just can't see anything if the room is dark). I don't know why they didn't think of it.
3)Internet apps missing YouTube and Picasa. (I can't imagine internet TV without YouTube)
4) Little bulky compared to conventional LED TVs
Issues found ( I could be wrong, but want to write here)
1)while watching Netflix images skewed once. (not sure TV problem, or Netflix movie content problem)
2)Turned off automatically once
3)Once the color went to 0 and picture is black and white. Had to go to setting and change
4)Started noticing 'OK' button doesn't function. some times need to press twice or thrice (need to check more)
Bang for the buck July 13, 2010 S. Rangarajan (NJ USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this unit from Sams club. I couldn't post my review below on Samsclub, because the website said the review contained profanity.
Not sure what it is :-)
As many other reviewers have posted, this TV gives the most bang for the buck in the above 40" LED backlit TV sets.
Pros:
1. Setup (by the wizard on first power on) was real easy
2. Excellent picture quality viewing not only bluray movies, but also upconverted (1080p) DVDs. I would daresay the picture quality was more or less equivalent to comparable and much more expensive Samsung or Sony TVs.
3. Deep black and no blooming (or atleast I couldnt notice it).
4. Internet Apps is a cool plus. But with most devices trying add the most common of the apps, this should not be a major criterion for your purchase decision.
5. Firmware upgrade happened a few hours after the first power-on
6. Bluetooth remote with Qwerty keyboard (That's very unique for this TV and really helpful too)
7. Connects with laptop/PC via HDMI or VGA.
8. Comes with an attached stand
9. Sound quality seems nice too.
10. Netflix streaming was unbelievable. High quality with no interruption at all.
Cons:
1. Sometimes remote hangs for a few seconds to minutes, when accessing Internet apps. Restarting the TV helps. (This could be a problem with my router as well).
2. All USB ports are disabled. Not sure when or if at all they would be enabled.
3. A bit too thick for a LED backlit TV.
4. Less number of options for Picture settings
5. Netflix app can access only the instant queue
6. Most of the Internet apps are pretty much useless. I for myself use just Netflix, Pandora and weather updates. Not sure why integrating a generic browser is that difficult for device manufacturers.
Overall, if you want to save a few 100 bucks and dont fancy brand names this is one hell of a TV (at least thats what it looks like after a months use).
P.S: The TV with the box didnt fit in my full size car (Camry LE 2005). I had to get help from a Sams employee to take the TV out and put it in my car without the outer cover.
excellent LED TV July 12, 2010 neel (Florida) Absolutely amazing picture. Easy set up all you need is a couple of HDMI cables. Connects straight to the web wirelessly and we are watching Netflix all the time. Absolutely love the TV: color, depth and picture quality. Don't waste money on expensive models. I am not a tech savvy person and this was a snap to set up. Literally plug and play. Free shipping from Amazon too!! I have connected it to a Onkyo receiver 5 speaker system and a 12 inch powered subwoofer and a blue ray player. The whole TV watching experience is amazing!
