Simply Amazing
I’ve been playing for over 20 years, and I was really excited when my 7 year old daughter asked for a guitar for Christmas. I bought her a mini strat in red after trying it out a guitar center. It plays amazing for something in this price range! Yes, the strings are a little slack, but that’s not bad for a new player with small hands. It’s a great size and weight for a small player. She’s a 3/4-side person (at just over 4 ft tall), so I figure a 3/4 sized guitar is perfect.

My daughter feels like a total rock star when she puts it on and has been practicing basic chords and scales for the past month. She’s really starting to get the hang of it. She’ll probably outgrow this guitar in a couple of years, but if she keeps at it she’ll be a great player by then.

No attention to string scale problem
This has the bones of a good instrument, but the designers did not pay attention to the core design problem of a mini guitar–the string length, or scale. Had the mini Strat a typical Strat’s vibrato, the total string length would be a couple of inches longer, which would be a dramatic improvement for this guitar. The longer the string from tuning key to stop, the more tension required to raise the string to proper intonation. And the more tension, the better it will play and sound.

The designers used a ridiculously complex tailpiece that has two hex screws to adjust the height of each string. With the relatively low string tension, adjusting the bridge is a delicate process. It is hard to keep the saddles low enough, to not affect playability, because you have to raise them enough to keep the saddles from rattling. A little more string tension would solve that.

If you tune this thing high pitched like a mandolin, it plays much better. In truth, it’s accidentally designed to be tuned like that. Tuned normally, it’s too twangy. My daughter won’t touch it; she prefers my full-scale SG because it sounds so much better. Try heavier than average strings; they help, but that also makes the instrument less playable for small hands.

The pickups are nothing special, but the Mini Strat does have the five-position switch, and the in-between positions produce nice, chunky tones.

This one will surprise you….
I ordered this guitar because I thought it would be a nice guitar play around with and costing under 150.00, I wasn’t expecting much. Boy was I in for a surprise. I originally ordered the vintage sunburst from American Music Outlet. My guitar came a day earlier, but it was not the vintage sunburst, but rather the cherry sunburst. But I am very happy with the cherry color and after going over the guitar, I will not return it. The guitar was shipped in a box within a box. When I opened it, the guitar was wrapped in a foam blanket. It even had the protective plastic wrap on the pick guard and other parts. It was not tuned, which I expected, but it also was not that far out of tune. Because the saddle is adjustable, in less than a minute I was able to adjust the strings to less than .045 (respectable) at the 5th fret, with no buzzing. I inspected literally every inch of this guitar and found no flaws at all, it is in perfect condition. The sound is excellent with all controls and pickups functioning flawlessly. The frets are filed smooth, including the edges and running up and down the edge of the board will not give you a skin rash like some other low priced guitars. The quality of this guitar is not less than any MIM Strat or Squire I have played. I was very surprised by the quality and craftsmanship. I could not be happier with my purchase.

Best of the best
This guitar is as good as any Les Paul or Fender, and the price can’t be beat. Period! It’s built like a tank, has great tone, and can do it all (with the right player, of course.) I highly recommend this Silvertone SSL3 to anyone looking for a great guitar, and not having to go broke to get it. Everyone I know who has seen it just can’t believe how great it is, or what I paid for it. But we know, don’t we Amazon? hehehe

Beautiful guitar, nicely crafted, great sound
Ok, let me start by saying I was so very skeptical when I saw this guitar advertised here on Amazon.com. I was skeptical because I have played Les Paul guitars, I have played Les Paul copies, and some copies were good and some Les Paul guitars were cheap (epiphone 100 etc.). So when searching for a Les Paul copy, how do you get a good one at a really reasonable price? WEll I was convinced that I would have to spend 225.00 or more to get a decent copy. Agile had good reviews, but I kept wanting to buy the upper level to get what I want and that bordered 300.00 bucks. Well, if your going to spend that, why not get a Les Paul Studio series for about the same? Well for me, thats because the studio series didn’t have all the bells and whistles. So I kept searching. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING!

I had nothing to go on but reviews. So I read a ton of them. Just about the time I was ready to buy I would read a bad review on the guitar I wanted. UNTIL I FOUND THIS SILVERTONE SSL3 CS. I couldn’t find many reviews. But I did find one guy that was an experienced player and very eloquent in how he decribed this guitar. I was intrigued at how he had taken it to his local guitar shop to have the action tweaked a little (I will have to adjust mine a tiny bit too), But he described how the guitar shop tech was amazed at his SILVERTON SSL3, and he went on to say how the tech pulled some Les Paul guitars from the shelf and compared them. He said he was in Awe of the quality of the Silvertone. I somewhat agree.

I unboxed my Silvertone SSL3 just today and I couldn’t wait to write about it. What an amazing guitar with amazing craftsmanship! The guitar is almost setup perfectly except for tiny bit of string buzz on two strings. Slightly raising the action did not cure the problem. But the guitar looks great, balanced well and sounds amazing! I forgot to mention it is total EYE CANDY also! It is beautifully constructed of obviously quality materials. The finish is perfect and flawless. This is not a light piece of junk. I cannot tell the difference in the weight and feel of a 1500 dollar Les Paul. And I paid [...] bucks with FREE SHIPPING! Did I mention, FREE SHIPPING! I really thought I would need to at least install better pickups to be satisfied because I record a lot. Well, I was pleasantly wrong about that!

After not being able to get the BUZZ out of the strings, I emailed the seller and Scott at American Music Outlet said BOX it up and ship it back. I did that and before the guitar made it back to them, they had already shipped me another one, but they took the time to set this one up perfectly for me..low action with minimal string buzz. Wow am I happy about that! These guys were awesome and do have a guitar tech to set up your guitar when you purchase it!

The ONLY thing I can say negative about this guitar other than the string buzz is really not about the guitar at all..that is the warranty card says five years. The box and the seller say lifetime warranty. But either way, it is a steal at [...] bucks and I am considering buying another just in case I need another! It says on a removable sticker on the back of the headstock that it was made in Indonesia. I had no idea they could make guitars of this quality over there.

IN CONCLUSION: This guitar gets a solid B+ only because of string buzz..its not far from an A, after my experience with American Music outlet and Scott setting up a replacement for me, I give it an A now for sure. I’m not going to say its a good guitar for the [...] money, because its a good guitar for any amount of money. This guitar should cost 300-600 bucks to get this kind of quality. But then folks would just buy a Les Paul I guess, but as for me? I don’t buy it because of the name, I buy it because of the quality which usually means a brand name..but not in this case! Buy it, and if you don’t love it, sell it for a profit! Most places I found this guitar want [...] dollars. Its a steal at that price. But this seller on Amazon.com has it at [...] and free shipping which is UNBELIEVABLE. Do not be afraid. I am the most critical human you will ever read a review from and this guitar is a real quality constructed beautifully sounding guitar and surpasses most Les Paul Copies I have ever seen, it surpasses many epiphone also and know this..I have to have quality and value or I am not happy. I have never been happier with a purchase in my entire life! Personal Favorite
This, by far, is my favorite guitar that I have ever played. The neck is just the right size for my large-ish hands and it sounds absolutely great. The neck size is unique from most of the guitars I’ve played; slightly thick, but not as thick as a Les Paul. I would recommend that you try it out in your local music store before you place the order. My only gripe with this guitar is that it comes with EMG pickups, they sound kinda lifeless when compared to passive pickups. On the bright side, you can swap out the pickups pretty easily if you don’t like em.

I purchased it back in 07 and I haven’t had any problems with it, except for the third string tuner which goes a little flat sometimes. I called Schecter about this and they were quite helpful. Other than that, the construction is solid and can withstand gigging.
The best metal guitar in its price range and beyond!
Got this guitar after trying it out in a store, i must say, glad i did. I have been a musician for about 14yrs and this is the best sounding guitar for the money and beyond. Keep in mind, i have owned over 20+ guitars in the last 14 years: Ibanez, Schecter, Epiphone, Fender, PRS, Hamer, and the list goes on and on. This is the best one yet! Now keep in mind that its about what your using it for as well. Personally i think this guitar can smoke a 00.00 PRS when it comes to playing metal with tight distortion (PRS’s get kinda muddy i think), where as a fender with lace sensor single coils might be better suited if your looking for light jazz or blues. But lets face it… you don’t buy a Porsche for soccer practice and you don’t buy a Mini-van for racing. With a name like “Hellraiser” this is obviously bred for metal and hard rock!

Most reliable instrument I ever bought
It was July of 2006, my band was about to play a show and my main guitar was falling questionably out of tune during songs at practice, so I went on a quest to get something new, that’s when I stumbled across this guitar I knew nothing about, a c-1 Schecter Hellraiser. Mahogany body and neck with a carved maple top, nice arched fret board with a great feel to the neck, and powerful EMG pickups give this guitar an awesome punch. The 25.5 scale makes this PERFECT for detuning without any string flapping.

My experiences with this guitar, I have nothing bad to say about the guitar, other than the fact that when I wasn’t using it live in favor of another guitar, I paid dearly, but the second I plugged the Hellraiser in, not a bad show, not flying out of tune, just very dependable.

A lot of people will frown on the Mahogany wood choice, but I’ve dropped this several times, (thrown once during a rock star temper tantrum) and the guitar keeps on ticking, and most importantly, the red finish still looks gorgeous!

I am so glad I took a chance on this guitar, it feels like no other import I have ever played and Schecter has done a great job with the Hellraiser series.

Gibson’s 490R and 498T Pickups
The mid to late 1960s saw the emergence of a very different type of music coming from the clubs of England. This new genre’s players were demanding more powerful amplifiers with increased volume outputs to satisfy their sonic explorations. This led to a call for a more versatile pickup, and Gibson answered the call with the 490T and 490R pickups (“T” for treble, and “R” for rhythm), humbuckers with the tonal characteristics of an original PAF, but with a slight increase in upper mid-range response. The Gibson 498T bridge pickup is the 490’s ideal complement. Taking the 490 one step further, the 498 swaps the Alnico II magnet to an Alnico V, thus making it slightly hotter with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. The pole pieces on the 498T are also aligned a little further apart to accommodate the spacing of the strings at the bridge, which is different than the spacing of the strings at the neck.

Mahogany Back and Maple Top
There isn’t anything more critical than the marriage of the Les Paul’s mahogany back with a maple cap, as well as the regimen involved in selecting the right wood and the formula to dry it out. First, the wood is personally inspected and qualified by Gibson’s team of skilled wood experts before it enters the Gibson factories. The Tune-o-matic bridge was the brainchild of legendary Gibson president Ted McCarty in 1954. The original idea for the Epiphone Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar was to create a somewhat lower-priced Paul by dispensing with some cosmetics. The result was an especially clean, handsome guitar with all the Les Paul essentials. Newly designed in 2004, the Studio now has a thicker body that matches its namesake, hot open-coil humbuckers, a set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and mahogany body with carved top. Just As Good As A Gibson, But Cheaper!!!
I bought mine over 2 weeks ago at Guitar center and was struck by the Alpine White color, which I found out was a Custon Shop limited edition. When I got it home, I noticed that it wouldn’t stay in tune and that was due to the fact that it wasn’t set up properly upon the leaving the factory in China, contrary to what the inspection label on the back of the headstock says. The intonation, along with the string and pickup height, were in need of adjustment and once I took care of those problems, I was amazed at how well this guitar sounded and how great it stayed in tune. The rest of the guitar from the frets to the electronics, seems to be very well built, but I would’ve preferred block inlays instead of the dot ones on the neck. Other than that,there was nothing that I could find wrong with this guitar at all. This is a very reasonably priced instrument for the beginner and advanced musician as far as I’m concerned, and I’m speaking from over 36 years of playing. This is a welcome alternative for those of us who can’t afford the outrageous prices for the US made Gibsons, and seeing that Epiphone is owned by them, you really more or less have the same thing, just made in a different country, that’s all! Great guitar for a great price!

Outstanding Guitar
I bought the Schecter C-1 FR electric guitar on one of the lighting deals of the day. It is a very solid guitar with mahogany body and bolt on neck. It has schecter alinco active pickups which sound very good. When I received it it had some fret buzz at the 1st fret, and I was lazy to adjust it. The fret buzz actually went away after 2-3 weeks of playing. It seems the neck has set in better and now without any adjustments, the guitar is perfect with low action.

The workmanship on this guitar is flawless. I got the black color, and you can not see any paint runs or dings on this guitar. The neck is straight. For a bolt on neck, this guitar has a very good sustain comparable to set neck guitars.

The sound of this guitar is outstanding. I can get good clean sounds from the neck pick up and heavy distorted sounds from the bridge pick up. The Floyd Rose tremelo is a plus!

The guitar does not come with a case, and it does not have coil tapping.

Overall it is an outstanding guitar, and I highly recommend it for rock or even heavy metal.

Great guitar (casual player review)
I’ve been playing guitar very (very) casually for a few years. I started with an acoustic, took some time off, then got this guitar for Christmas (thanks, wife!). I’m extremely happy with it. I’m using it with a Line6 Spider IV 15 amp (very nice amp for the price, by the way).

We also bought the white version of this for our daughter. Both the black and white look fantastic. The guitar is nicely balanced. As the description says, it has access to the full fret range. The whammy bar is firm and well placed. It also comes with an 8 foot cable for plugging in to an amp and several different sized Allen wrenches for adjusting various bits.

Major tuning is done by loosening (with the wrenches) some string clips (for lack of a better word) at the end of the neck near the tuning knobs. Then, you turn the knobs and tighten the knobs. Daily fine tuning (humidity, string aging, etc) can be done by turning small screws at the other end of the strings. The guitar can be just as easily played with a pick or fingers. I haven’t tried a slide, but I don’t see how it would be a problem.

Sorry if this review seems rather pedestrian, but as I said, I’m a very casual player and this is the first electric I’ve owned.

I can’t really say enough good things about this guitar, especially at the price. Sounds great, easy to use/tune, whammy, comes with a cable, looks fantastic!

Note: Does NOT come with: picks, case, stand, amp, strap. Just sayin’.
